ONE couple from South Carolina struck gold when they sorted through the attic of their new home.
While digging through a leftover drawer, a man found two cases of antique coins.
A SWEET FIND
James and Clarrisa Mumford had recently moved into their new home in Columbia, South Carolina, when James stumbled upon the coins.
“James happened to come across the coins in a leftover drawer, tucked away," Clarrisa told the news agency SWNS.
He found two cases full of coins, totaling 64 coins.
The coins dated back to the 19th century and were worth $25,000.

Inside the cases were 46 gold $5 liberty coins and 18 Morgan silver dollars.
The Liberty $5 coins were dated between 1849 and 1907, while the Morgan silver dollar coins were minted between 1878 and 1904.
THE RIGHTFUL OWNER
Despite finding such valuable coins, the couple decided to return them to their rightful owner.
“The previous owners were elderly so I think he accidentally hid them from himself. He even admitted that he had completely forgotten about them,” Clarrisa told the outlet.

She continued: “We had no idea the coins would be worth that much, but regardless we knew who the previous owner was so, of course, we immediately gave them back."
“I keep joking with my husband that karma has to be on our side now.”
The owner of the coins has chosen to remain anonymous.

Although they might not look like much, many coins are worth a lot of money.
